PINTAIL PROSPECT
The Middle Frio sands in the area were deposited in a deep water slope environment with irregular seafloor topography. The result of these conditions were a series of gravity fed submarine sand channel systems which were
overlain by an excellent sealing deep water shale. The Middle Frio sands can be identified by PSTM 3-D seismic as a high impedance peak reflector that is associated with the occurrence of lithologic or facies change and are
apparently not the result of hydrocarbon effects (HCI’s). This system has been penetrated six times to date, with only one successful venture, which is currently producing in the area with a rate of 4 MMCF/Day & 436 BOPD and has produced over 7 BCF and 729,000 barrels of oil.
